SAFEJAWZ
SAFEJAWZ make mouthguards and nothing else, which is why theirs are better than the ones bundled in with a glove brand's range.
They are also the ones people actually wear — and a mouthguard sitting in your kit bag protects nothing.
The two series
- Intro Series — the straightforward one. Clean colours, solid protection, sensible price. If you just need a guard that fits and works, start here.
- Extro Series — the designs. Fangz, Ice, and the rest. Same protection, considerably more presence.
Fitting them properly
These are boil-and-bite, and the fit is the entire product. A guard that sits wrong forces your jaw open slightly and interferes with your breathing — and breathing is the first thing to go when you are tired.
Boil the water and take it off the heat. Follow the timing exactly, then bite down firmly and suck in hard to pull the material against your teeth and gums. Push it into the front of your teeth with your fingers while it is still soft, then set it in cold water.
If it comes out wrong, re-boil it and do it again. Do not train in a bad fit.
Wear it every session
Not just hard sparring — every session, however light it is meant to be. Mistakes happen when people get tired, and teeth do not grow back.
